Winch Outs and Vehicle Recovery
Recovery calls cover anything where the vehicle is stuck rather than broken: slid off a shoulder into a ditch, buried in snow, sunk in mud at a job site, or high centered on a curb or median. These jobs need a truck with a working winch, enough line, and an operator who knows how to pick an anchor point that will not tear a bumper off.
The details decide the price and the equipment, so our dispatcher will ask how far off the road the vehicle sits, whether it is upright, what the surface is, and whether the wheels turn freely. A car two feet off a gravel shoulder is a short pull. A car forty feet down an embankment is a very different job and may need a heavy duty unit.
Stay out of the recovery zone
Winch lines are under enormous tension. If a line or a strap fails, it snaps back hard. Stand well clear, uphill and to the side, and keep passengers away while the operator works.
Recovery and tow are often combined
Once a vehicle is back on pavement, it may still be undrivable due to suspension or tire damage. Ask about a combined recovery and tow quote so you are not booking twice.
What it costs
Recovery is quoted based on difficulty rather than a single flat rate, and the price is confirmed with you before any truck rolls. Complex or multi truck recoveries are quoted by the dispatcher directly.
